In January 2014 I applied for a job as a technical office with the Bureau of Meteorology in Australia, with the goal of representing Australia in Antarctica. In August 2014 I was notified that my application was successful, and I had two weeks to get organised to move to Melbourne. I spent three months in Melbourne learning my job, and then three months in Hobart just generally making a nuisance of myself.
In January 2015 I boarded the Aurora Australis and set sail for a tiny patch of ice called Mawson Station, 7000km from my old home. Now I'm stuck here.
This blog is an outlet for me to share my adventures and mishaps in this beautiful place with the world (particularly friends, family, and those I push the link at). Hopefully I'll evoke a laugh or two, possibly some interest in the cold south, and at the bare minimum waste two minutes of your day.
